NIDE Standards
The net divides the court in half. It will be made of synthetic fibres and will be suspended from a net support cable which will be made of galvanised or corrosion-resistant steel. The cable will have a maximum diameter of 8 mm. The net will have a length of 12.80 m for doubles and 10.06 m for singles. The width of the mesh will be sufficiently small to prevent the ball from passing through it. It will have a height of 1.07 m at the support of the posts, for doubles or singles. The height at the centre of the net will be 0.914 m, where it will be held taut by a 5 cm wide white strip. The net is finished off with a white upper band between 50 and 63 cm wide when folded, and the net support cable runs through it. The net must be fully extended so that it completely occupies the space between the posts, the upper band and the surface of the court. The net must not be taut. The threads that make up the net, the tension cable and the upper band must have the breaking strength indicated in the UNE EN 1510 standard cited above and a minimum of Class C will be required for local competitions, recreational and school use and Class A for national and international competitions.
